Effects of Temperature Change on Hatchability of Acheta domesticus Eggs

Abstract:To identify the effects of temperature on hatchability of Acheta domesticus eggs and provide new evidence for the responses of insect eggs to temperature change, the hatchability rates of A. domesticus eggs were observed under low germinating temperature (4℃ and 7℃) and high hatching temperature (25℃ and 29.5℃) treatments. The number of hatched eggs were recorded, and then ANOVA analysis was conducted to test the effects of temperature on the hatchability rate of eggs. The results showed that low germinating temperature significantly influenced the hatchability of A. domesticus eggs, but high hatching temperature didn't, and there were significant interactive effects between the two temperature treatments. There were significant differences in the hatchability rates of A. domesticus eggs between different temperature treatments under the same hatching time, and the time for the highest hatching rate was different. It is suggested that low germinating temperature and high hatching temperature are important factors in influencing the hatching rate of A. domesticus eggs. These findings provide fundamental guidance for rearing A. domesticus under favorable condition.
